The Instructor

My name is Clint Cloys and I started training in Wing Chun in February 1999 while attending Purdue University. I now live in Fishers, Indiana.

I was a bouncer for three years while I was in West Lafayette and also did it in downtown Indianapolis, until I got a "real job". Working the door really taught me how to translate and apply what I was learning to a real, resisting opponent. It taught me how to adapt my training to various circumstances ranging from simply escorting someone out, to the typical "bar brawl".
I was also very fortunate to have an ex-Special Forces veteran as my Sifu. I benefited from his Wing Chun training in Hong Kong, his experience in violent encounters and his foresight to focus on mastering principles and concepts above techniques. I want to share my experience and training with others who feel they can benefit from it and pass on the great training that I received.
About my Wing Chun training
As stated above, I have trained in Wing Chun since 1999. The instruction I received is in the Yip Man lineage. I have learned the entire system which consists of all three open-hand forms, the wooden dummy, the long pole and the swords.
My lineage is traced from Yip Man as follows:
Yip Man --> Siu Yuk Men --> Chad Williams --> Me
I am Instructor Certified through:
            Tippecanoe Wing Chun Kuen Association
Ving Tsun Athletic Association (VTAA) in Hong Kong
About my Wing Chun Instructor
Sifu Chad Williams has been studying Wing Chun since 1992. In 1998 he lived for approximately 6 months and trained full time in Hong Kong under Grandmaster Siu Yuk Men.  Sifu Williams was the first non-Chinese student under Siu Yuk Men to be presented with an instructor certificate by the Ving Tsun Athletic Association. Sifu Williams had the honor of celebrating his achievement of instructor recognition with a private celebratory dinner attended by both of Yip Man’s sons, Yip Ching and Yip Chun, and Grandmaster Tsui Shun Tin.
Sifu Williams is a US Army Airborne Ranger and Special Forces (the “Green Berets”)veteran (MOS 18C3V). He served in the 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment and on ODAs in both 1st and 19th Special Forces Groups. While serving in Special Forces he operationally deployed to Thailand, Kosovo, Afghanistan, and Kuwait. Sifu Williams additionally spent 2 years in Cambodia where he was managing, training and conducting operations with Khmer Law Enforcement officers in the Cardamon Mountains combating illegal logging, wildlife poaching and illegal narcotics trafficking/production.
Sifu Williams holds a BS degree in Agricultural Science from Purdue University and is currently finishing up an MSc degree in Environmental Science from the University of London.
